EURO-NOTES 2010 Report
EURO-NOTES 2010 (September 9 to 11) was the fourth joint meeting of the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery (EAES) and the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE) on Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery (NOTES). A record number of participants (more than 230) impressively demonstrated that research on NOTES, interventional endoscopy and single port surgery is still attracting a lot of interest.
The challenges and obstacles of implementing NOTES into clinical practice were actively discussed in various workshop sessions. Representatives from the industry gave insight into new technical developments for minimal invasive endoscopic therapy. Furthermore, experts from all over the world presented an overview of current achievements and future demands. Selected abstract presenters highlighted current research activities on NOTES. Additionally, live demonstrations and hands-on training enhanced the meeting for the first time.
The abovementioned components and the inspiring atmosphere of interdisciplinarity made the meeting a great success. Further dialogue in the pursuit of solutions for a new therapeutic concept in endoscopy and surgery, will be continued in Frankfurt at EURO-NOTES 2011.
